Sickle started in the mid 90's out of the back of a 1960 Volvo. Owner Ryan Broersma hand made chalk bags and sold them around campsites in locations like Joshua Tree, Yosemite, and Squamish. The business plan was simple, sell a quality product at a fair price, build it to last, and give superior customer service. A lot has changed since those early Volvo days but the business plan has remained the same.

For the last several years Sickle has been developing ways to reduce its impact on the environment. Conventionally grown cotton uses massive amounts of chemical pesticides and fertilizers. We at Sickle have made a stand to convert as many products as possible to organically grown cotton which uses no chemical pesticides or fertilizers. By doing so we have prevented thousands of pounds of harmful substances from entering our soil, air, and water. We're continuing to develop additional ways to minimize our impact of the planet and at the same time say true to our original business plan.
